Get a life in Alice Springs
Alice Springs is the Territory’s second largest city and is located in Australia’s centre, about half way between Darwin and Adelaide. The town straddles the usually-dry Todd River and is framed by the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges.
Alice Springs enjoys typical Australian temperatures, except the best part is that summer lasts longer here. In the height of summer, daytime temperatures hover around 36 degrees. Cool summer nights and the lack of humidity makes the climate the envy of other cities in Australia – perfect BBQ weather! In winter, you hardly ever have to put a coat on, with mild days of around 20-25 degrees. Winter evenings are typical of any desert region with chilly temperatures that can drop to zero degrees. There is nothing quite like curling up in front of a fire inside, or outside under the stars!
Throughout the year, crisp mornings and cool evenings offer the perfect chance to explore some of the local walking tracks to a backdrop of a brilliant blue sky and striking purples and ochres of the MacDonnell Ranges. No matter where you choose to live in Alice Springs, there is a walking track not more than 5 minutes from home, criss-crossing through the landscape to allow spectacular vantage points of sunrise or sunset. In fact going for your morning walk with the dog will make you feel like you are a hundred miles away in pristine nature. Find out about some great adventures you can have in your spare time or on the weekends here.
Alice Springs offers a great choice of detached and semi-detached houses and apartments for rent or sale. Most homes are Mediterranean-style single-storey houses on blocks of around 1200 square meters and beautiful native gardens are common. There are many types of suburbs to choose from. In Alice you could walk out of your back door directly onto the 18 hole golf course, sit in your backyard with the sound of desert bird songs in suburbs that are surrounded by native trees, or you could live somewhere where you will see awesome views of the MacDonnell Ranges from your kitchen window. Most houses have air conditioners and either wood fires or gas heaters for chilly winter nights. Over 50% of homes have solar hot water and swimming pools are popular.
