Keeping fit
Alice’s world-class sporting facilities are home to a variety of local sporting competitions including netball, basketball, baseball, rugby, soccer, tennis, cricket and football. For the more adventurous there are also sporting clubs for motocross, dirt bike riding, pistol shooting or horse riding. You will find several gymnasiums in the town with full facilities and classes, and the public swimming pool is a great way to cool off after a day at work, or if you have a bit more time you could swim at any of our local natural waterholes. No crocodiles to be found here! Alice Springs also regularly hosts a number of large sporting events including the biannual Master’s Games, the Red Centre Tennis Open, the Finke Desert Race and annual pre-season national AFL matches. Alice’s Traeger Park is one of the home grounds of the Territory’s own QAFL team, Territory Thunder, and also hosts Central Australian Football League club matches each weekend.

If you are after something a little more relaxing why not play a round of golf at the Alice Springs Golf Club? Situated at the base of the MacDonnell Ranges it is rated as one of the world’s top ten desert courses and is ideal for whiling away a lazy Central Australian afternoon.
