National Parks and Reserves

ParksAlice Springs is home to a variety of national parks and nature reserves. Entry is  free and there are picnic grounds, BBQs, camping and toilet facilities available. A half day drive from Alice Springs will take you to Australia’s most famous icon of Uluru – great for a weekend away. Find out more about all the national parks and reserves in the area.

The West MacDonnell National Park is located west of Alice Springs. This magnificent location provides an assortment of walking trails suited from beginner-level to advanced bushwalkers. There are endless bush tracks, trails and 4WD roads that allow you to explore the natural beauty of the West MacDonnell Ranges. The Parks and Wildlife Service holds daily tours of selected gorges, gaps and waterholes located within the park, with nature talks and interactive walks held weekly.
